Swinton Park is the ancestral home of the Cunliffe-Lister family and is set in 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens.The castle is surrounded by the family estate in which guests have access to rivers, reservoirs, moorland, dales and beautiful countryside bordering the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The bedrooms, on first and second floors, are individually designed and decorated on the theme of a Yorkshire town, dale, castle, abbey or garden, according to the aspect of the room. For example, the Harrogate room faces south across the lake and deer park, whilst the Richmond room faces east overlooking the gatehouse and driveway. All rooms are equipped with two direct dial telephones, a modem point, CD player, satellite TV, trouser press, drinks tray and coffee/tea facilities. Four of the thirty bedrooms are suites and the turret room is on three floors with a (steep!) staircase between. A lift serves both first and second floors. Four of the ensuite bathrooms are equipped for disabled use. The dining room, built by Samuel Cunliffe-Lister, boasts a superb gold leaf ceiling and sumptuose decor. The exquisite menu consists of only the finest ingredients, with a selection of local produce, meat and game from the four acre walled garden and surrounding family estate. The restaurant has achieved 3AA rosette award status and offers a traditional as well as a fantastic menu.Swinton Park Spa is in a conservatory bathed in warm natural light with lush tropical vegetation. The Jacuzzi pool is set in its own deck, with the relaxation zone at ground level and the sauna and shower recessed into the outer wall. Guests enjoy total privacy in the spa, with exclusive access which can be booked by the hour, subject to a maximum of four guests at any one time. The treatment rooms are discreet and subtly furnished . A wide range of country pursuits are available in the extensive grounds, with outdoor games and equipment available. Rosemary Shrager, the award winning celebrity chef, runs her cookery school at Swinton Park in the ground floor of the converted Georgian stables. Please Note: Pets are welcome too! (Charges Apply)

Directions from the A1:Take the B6267 off of the A1, signposted Thirsk and Masham, and follow the signs to Masham. Once you reach the town centre, follow the road past the Market Square and HSBC Bank. Take the second right onto Swinton Terrace. This road will lead you past Masham Golf Course and up the hill to the gates of Swinton Park.
